Our Story

Looply was born out of a mix of frustration with the slow pace of policy change, and curiosity about what we could do with the stuff no one wants: soft plastics. Think bread bags and delivery packaging that usually get binned. We decided to build our own system, transforming single-use waste into lasting, usable goods, while bringing people together through making. We believe sustainability should be hands-on, inclusive, and a little bit scrappy. Our model is simple, replicable, and rooted in community - proving that rethinking waste can start small and still make a big impact.

What if ...

Plastics Plastics Plastics

In London, the average person throws away 66 pieces of plastic each week. Across the UK, that adds up to around 430,000 tons of plastic waste every month. Yikes.

A whopping 85% of that is soft plastic - the tricky stuff most recycling systems can’t handle. Only 12% of plastics actually get recycled. The rest? It’s landfilled, burned, or shipped overseas, polluting ecosystems and contributing to climate breakdown.

We’re flipping the script: what if waste didn't leave the local stream?

Community

Our mission is to make sustainable practices tangible and inclusive by putting community at core of sustainable change. We believe change is sparked through local efforts and a hands-on approach, strengthening communities on the way.

Our Process is no Secret

Open-access tools are key to a circular society, making sustainable discussions and upcycling more accessible and tangible. We provide DIY guides to help you make your own products and run workshops on upcycling non-recyclable plastics.

Closing the Loop

We help businesses adopt closed loop systems by transforming their single-use plastics into reusable products. Businesses can also set up a collection point in-store, creating broader impact in their own communities.
